Strong Foundation

EVERY now and then you discover something that seems too good to be true.

Recently I was advised to dump all my foundations and powders. That I wouldn't need them again.

I'm game for anything so I went and saw the Newcastle stockist of Youngblood Natural Mineral Foundation.

She was right. I have dumped the concealers, the foundations and powders.

Youngblood is a powder-form foundation that can provide coverage from extremely light, to heavy, without looking like you have make-up caked on your skin.

It blends well on the jaw and neck line and disguises blemishes like nothing I have used or seen before.

The product is made from mineral powders and because it is inorganic it doesn't go off.

It can be applied dry with a brush or sponge, or wet when mixed with a creamy moisturiser.

And the results are spectacular.

At first I was sceptical when Sonia Rowe, of Sonia's Beauty on King at Modern Image Hair Design, Lawson St, Hamilton, told me all about the foundation. That was until I tried it and I had the same reaction she did. It was a godsend.

It takes just seconds to apply and even the quickest of applications gives a professional look.

To cover blemishes you just put more on that area. It covers the blemish, but it doesn't leave areas looking like you've applied foundation with a trowel.

In fact, it is hard for people to tell you are wearing any foundation at all.

Ms Rowe first tried it at a beauty sales convention after which she ended up dancing the night away.

She said that when she finally got home her mascara had run, her lipstick was gone, but to her surprise, the foundation was still there.

It hadn't gone claggy or started slipping down her face.

`It has an incredible adhering ability, it is so light to wear and it just doesn't run off,' she said.

The make-up is waterproof and as Ms Rowe has experienced herself, it can last through hours of strenuous activity, be it in the water, the gym or on the dancefloor.

Ms Rowe said that clients who had problems with red pigmentations, uneven skin tone, broken capillaries and inflamed acne couldn't believe the flawless finish that the product provided.

The other great thing about the foundation is that it doesn't feel like you are wearing anything on your skin and because it is talc free it doesn't clog up the pores at all.

Youngblood foundations come in 16 different colours and are priced at $45. There are also blushes, $35, available.
